Lake Forest College: The Chicken Bone

Come support your local college theater department!

Today at 3 p.m. or 8 p.m.

The 2012-2013 Lake Forest College theater season opens with “The Chicken Bone,” to be performed November 8-17, 2012.

“Hunger makes us do very strange things…” In a house in a wood, a boy and a girl tell each other stories. They tell tales of the days when people ate the sky and birds and mice could speak. They tell stories of how bananas came to be and what the animals drank before there was water. Only, the boy lives in a cage. And they are trapped by an evil witch. In a house made of gingerbread…

The Chicken Bone is a brand new, original show inspired by the "food theme" that Lake Forest College has embraced this year. Director Chloe Johnston, Assistant Professor of Theater. and her cast members have collaboratively created the show during the rehearsal process from folk tales that deal with issues of food and hunger, including “Hansel and Gretel,” as well as tales from Nigeria, Vietnam, Germany, and the Kalahari Desert.
