LEAD TO HOST MEG MEEKER, M.D. AS ITS 2012 PARENT UNIVERSITY KEYNOTE PRESENTER

LAKE FOREST, IL – LEAD, a Lake Forest based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Lake Forest will be brining to town Dr. Meg Meeker to kickoff its 2012 Parent University Series.

Dr. Meeker will make her keynote presentation entitled, “Finding Family Balance in a Challenging Culture” on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lake Forest High School Raymond Moore Auditorium.

Pediatrician, mother and best-selling author of six books, Dr. Meg Meeker is the country’s leading authority on parenting, teens and children’s health.

Dr. Meg writes with the know-how of a pediatrician and the big heart of a mother.  She has spent the last 25 years practicing pediatric and adolescent medicine while also helping parents and teens to communicate more deeply about difficult topics such as sex, STDs and teen pregnancy. Her work with countless families over the years served as the inspiration behind her new groundbreaking book, The Ten Habits of Happy Mothers - Reclaiming Our Passion, Purpose and Sanity.

Dr. Meg’s popularity as a speaker on key issues confronting American families has created a strong following on her blogs for Psychology Today. She has also spoken nationally on teen health issues, including personal appearances on numerous nationally syndicated radio and television programs including, The Today Show, CNN American Morning, Dateline with Katie Couric, The O’Reilly Factor, Oprah and Friends, 60 Minutes, Dr. Laura, The 700 Club and Fox and Friends.  Dr. Meg lends her voice to regular features in Physician Magazine and Psychologies (UK) and was a contributor to QUESTIONS KIDS ASK ABOUT SEX: Honest Answers for Every Age, The Complete Book of Baby and Child Care (Tyndale House Publishers) and High School Science text, Holt-Rhinehart and Winston, 2004.

Dr. Meeker will also be delivering an address on Wednesday morning, October 10, at 9:00 a.m. at Lake Forest’s newest restaurant, Authentico.  Authentico will be opening its doors for breakfast for the very first time to accommodate this event.  Come hear Dr. Meeker talk about her book, “The 10 Habits of Happy Mothers” and sample the first ever breakfast at the popular Authentico.  “We are thrilled that Authentico opened its doors to us for this event,” said Duran.  “We can’t wait to taste what Chef Antonio will be preparing for our group!”

LEAD is a 25 year-old organization that provides educational resources and programming for the community in order to help lead youth to healthy decisions by avoiding alcohol use, drug abuse, and other risky behavior.  LEAD has a great impact on the character, development, and behavior of youth, families, and the community.
