18 Scouts Will Be Added to Images of Excellence

2012 edition of mural will feature recent graduates who were standouts in sports and leadership.

Three state champions and 11 National Honor Society members will be among the 18 athletes from the Lake Forest High School Class of 2012 depicted on this year’s Images of Excellence mural painted on the wall of the West Campus athletic complex facing varsity field.

The latest edition of the mural will be unveiled during the Scouts opening football game at 7:30 p.m. Friday against Buffalo Grove.

The three state champs are swimmer Rachael Stoehr, golfer Joe Willis and pole vaulter Carolina Carmichael. All 17 student athletes were honored not only for their accomplishments on the field but for their academic performance and overall leadership.

“Images of Excellence is an outstanding way to honor the virtues and values we embrace at Lake Forest High School,” Superintendent Michael Simeck said. “The students selected embody the spirit of our outstanding student body and exemplify excellence as an inspirational goal.”

In addition to Stoehr, Willis and Carmichael, the honorees are Jordan Beck, Cole Bevis, Chris Charhut, Charles Cook, Hannah Gelderman, Norie Kauffman, Sam Moran, Emily Neuberger, Emily Nowlin, Katie Rowe, Michael Shipp, Heidi Sierks, Katie Skinner, Matt Wagener and Owen Williams.

Off the field achievements included senior class president (Moran) and the National Honor Society (Bevis, Charhut, Gelderman, Moran, Nowlin, Rowe, Shipp, Sierks, Skinner, Wagener and Willis).
