It would seem almost impossible for one boutique to fulfill the fashion needs of college students and mothers alike, but Lake Forest's Alixandra Collections does it seamlessly.

"Our price points really set us apart from other clothing businesses in the area and make us accessible to shoppers of all ages," says Toni Gentleman, manager of the Alixandra Collections in Lake Forest. "We have items that start at $20 and go all the way up to $300. There's really something for everyone here."

There are six Alixandra Collections stores, including five in Illinois and one in St. Louis. The Lake Forest location opened its doors in September.

The collection includes the jewelry of Chan Luu, Georgia Fletcher, Heather Moore, Kum Kum, Love Heals and Virgin Saints and Angels, which fills the tables in the store.

Sparkly headbands by Deepa Gurnani dangle next to the register. Handbags by Leatherock and Tano and clothes by Nicole Miller and Susana Monaco line the walls.

Alixandra Collections also boasts a denim assortment that includes popular labels such as Hudson, J. Brand, Joe's and Miss Me.

Alix Chesno, the founder of Alixandra Collections, said she put together the array of choices in the collection while dreaming it up in the 1990s.

Chesno said she took time away from her dream in 1993 to win the NCAA Division 1 Doubles title in tennis and later compete in the Australian Open, French Open and U.S. Open.

In 2004, she decided to come back to her original plan and open Alixandra Collections.

Gentleman said the store focuses as much on the quality of the collection as the customer service each associate provides its shoppers .

 "People appreciate that we are able to pull items from other locations so that they can get exactly what they need," Gentleman said. "Customer service is a huge deal for us—we invite and welcome everyone to the store."

Alixandra Collections is located at 259 Market Square in Lake Forest. Its hours of operation are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
