Dold, Schneider Polls Tell Different Story
DCCC shows a statistical tie while the Dold campaign’s survey gives the Congressman a 10-point lead.

Polls taken two days apart gauging the race between Democratic challenger Brad Schneider of Deerfield and Rep. Robert Dold (R-Kenilworth) show a very different snapshot of the 10th Congressional District race.
A survey completed Oct. 12 by the Dold campaign shows the North Shore Congressman with a 10 point lead while a poll taken Oct. 14 by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) indicates a statistical tie with Schneider leading by 1 percent.

Dold’s poll of 400 likely voters conducted by live telephone interviews Oct. 11 and 12 shows him with support of 46 percent of those questioned while Schneider would get the votes of 36 percent. There is a margin of error of 4.9 percent.
Schneider would receive 44 percent of the vote in the DCCC survey with Dold getting 43 percent of 451 likely voters in a digitized poll conducted Oct. 14 with a margin of error of 4.6 percent.
The two polls also show a different picture of the candidates’ favorable and unfavorable ratings. Dold’s survey shows 44 percent of those questioned have a positive opinion of him while 34 percent view him unfavorably. The same data gives Schneider a 30 percent favorable view and 26 percent have an unfavorable impression.
In the DCCC ratings, Dold is viewed unfavorably by 46 percent of respondents while 42 percent have a positive impression. Schneider got a good rating from 35 percent while 28 percent view him unfavorably.
“This latest poll confirms two things we've known for a while: that this race will be neck-and-neck to the end and that Brad's momentum continues to steadily grow,” Schneider Press Secretary Staci McCabe said. “The people are clearly tired of the partisan gridlock."
Dold spokesperson John McGovern takes a different view. He sees campaigns’ research as an indication Dold’s message is being communicated to voters in the District.
“The strong support we're receiving from across the 10th District reflects voters' desire for thoughtful, independent-minded leadership and their appreciation for Congressman Dold’s focus on leadership and results, not partisan politics," McGovern said.
The DCCC survey also showed President Barack Obama favored by 54 percent of 10th District voters while the Republican candidate, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, has 42 percent support.
Patch obtained all of its information from the DCCC and the Dold campaign and did not have access to detailed information on either poll.

The poll done by the DCCC was inaccurate. It polled registered voters. The poll done by Dold was likely voters. Face it, Schneider is losing in a district that was re-distracted heavily in his favor.
Schneider's campaign of distortion and misleading voters hasn't worked.
To make things worse, Schneider has a major cash disadvantage. Without cash Schneider can't falsely portray Dold as a Tea Partier on TV. And it's unlikely that he'll be able to share these distortions with voters across the 10th since he doesn't leave Highland Park

Aren't registered voters the only thing that matters given that voter registration is over now in Illinois. If you were a likely but unregistered voter, well, you're not voting.

Good point Stuart but guido can't accept his Master Dold is cooking the numbers :) Why not poll Kenilworth hahahahha. To advance beyond local office, a republicrat must be a sociopath. The War Party bosses will not allow advancement unless you fit sociopathic criteria.
This includes Dold and Schneider.

Dold was endorsed by the Tea Party to get elected. He's trying to distance himself from that now that the gridlock and other nutty things have been associated with the Tea Party Freshmen Class that Dold was a member of. The further he appears to be from people like Joe Walsh, the better for him. We see through it though. Moderate show votes.

The North Shore did not elect people like Joe Walsh so a level of intelligence exists that is apparently over powering the BS coming from the Tea Party loving Republican Right Wing. That probably explains why Obama is favored on the North Shore. As you venture toward the God, Guns, Gays and Taxes crowd you start seeing less Obama support. The Red States are not a Eutopia of Romneyism, but the climate is generally warmer along with the humidity. Those charter schools without libraries, gyms, DVD's for teachers, and bible verses to explain science may also contribute to Romney support. So, if you want less Obama support - advocate for the Southern Charter Bible School's right here in Lake County. A couple of quick generations later, viola! Republicans!

The psychotic rhetoric comes from the right. You guys hear good news for the economy and you say the numbers are cooked. Romeny decides to make stuff up and the right wing media twists so much it's crazy, blaming the moderator. Mitt said let Detroit go bankrupt, write off a million jobs. Etc. There was good news about the economy? do tell. Romney's point is valid, Obama took the auto industry bankrupt on the taxpayer dime. Its running at a $45 billion dollar loss to the taxpayer. They should have been allowed to go through bankrupcy on their own, and would have come out stronger. Where are those occupy people against bailouts?

McCloud - to follow up, Obama gave taxpayer money to THE UAW. In a "normal" bankruptcy, the unions would have had to take a cut as well - instead they were put at the front of the line. GM would have been able to continue, but with a new cost structure that was in line to make it competitive. All GM was able to do under Obama was get rid of some debt it owed others, but it kept in place the same UAW requirements that pushed it off the cliff to begin with. Also, there are current lawsuits due to what Obama's team did to the NON-UNION pensions - I wonder how much more that is going to cost the taxpayer.

The link didn't work, but I base my opinion on indexes like GDP, adjusted down to 1.2% for 2Q, thats a huge bad, record 88 million no longer in the labor force, a record bad, massive record debt accumulated during the last 4 years, a huge stranglehold on our future, unemployment remaining above 8%, when you count California this time it will be adjusted properly. The main indicators have consistently trended down each year of this administration. To claim otherwise is being like Candy Crowly, intellectually dishonest. Go ahead, label me extreme, I'll wear it, I'm in a good place.

"record 88 million no longer in the labor force" ...really...Are you not Republicans boasting about 90% of the jobs being in the private sector? What happened...Republican business owners not hiring to stick it to Obama? The jobs created by Republicans pay next to nothing so unemployed or employed is about the same for 88 million people. With Romney President expect the minimum-wage to be eliminated...after all $8 per hour is too much and "kills jobs" hahahahha. Republicans always blame legislation but in fact is their greediness that makes America the envy of employees...oops, Europe is, not US. In Europe they have benefits but that's because Conservatives are shown the door every election. Even today, with their crisis, European countries offers a better life to non-milionaires. It is posible here too, but not with Republicans in power. Vote against every Republican there is on any ballot and start with Dold who now is "Independent" not Republican :) A decent life could not be achieved with a Republican calling the shots...unless jobs who pay next to nothing with no benefits and pink slip as soon as you are in line for pay increase...that's not deent, that's slavery, legal slavery dear to Republicans'hearts.
