East Lake Academy Students Share Holiday Joy with Seniors
Take donated items to Maristella in Libertyville.
East Lake Academy students reached out to the community recently by visiting residents of several retirement and nursing homes in the area.
Students caroled up and down hallways, handed out homemade Christmas cards and spiritual bouquets, and recited rosaries with residents from the Little Sisters of the Poor Care facility in Palatine, the Winchester House in Libertyville, and Manor Care in Libertyville.
They even got to meet retired Bishop Andrew J. McDonald, who said mass for the residents and students at Little Sisters of the Poor. East Lake Academy students have been visiting the Winchester House every Christmas for the past four years.
After their visits to the homes, the eighth grade students delivered Christmas gifts to Maristella, an organization that helps families in need. For several weeks, families at East Lake Academy have been bringing in donations to the school of toys, pajamas, hats and gloves, and other essentials to donate to Maristella.
