Golfers Head to North Shore for Tournament

Amateur players from all over the world participated in the 110th Western Amateur Championship at the Exmoor Country Club including golfers from Highland Park, Lake Forest, Deerfield and Winnetka.

Five area golfers from Deerfield, Winnetka, Lake Forest and Highland Park were among the 156-player international field in the 113th annual Western Amateur Golf Tournament, which started Tuesday at Exmoor Country Club in Highland Park.

Though none of the five players made the cut on Wednesday to continue in the tournament, Patch was there snapping shots of them while they participated. 

The tournament was first played in 1899. The international field includes people from as far away as Spain, Australia and Malaysia.
