FREEBIRD!!! The Best Concert Of All Time Is...

Share your memories of the concert you loved the most.

Concert season is upon us. The Boss will rock Wrigley Field Sept. 7, REO Speedwagon with Styx and Ted Nugent are playing at Charter One Pavillion June 24, and Train performs at Ravinia Aug. 11.

It got me thinking about my first concert. It was U2 in 1987, the Joshua Tree Tour. Who was your first concert?

What was your favorite concert of all time? For me, it is a hard choice between Springsteen, U2, Jimmy Buffet and Billy Joel.

Music is very personal and every genre has its fans and its haters. Because this is America, where everyone is entitled to their opinion, we want to hear yours.

Are you a fan of Bon Jovi or Lynyrd Skynyrd, KISS or New Kids, Pink Floyd or Madonna? These are obviously just a few options to get you started. The field is wide open.

So we're just Askin'...what was your first concert and which concert ranks in your mind as the best of all time? Tell us in the comments.

I think my favorite concert was Jimmy Buffett, I just can't remember it very well.

A few years ago, before our three children were born, my wife and I went on what we called the "Almost Dead Tour." We saw Neil Diamond, Elton John and Paul McCartney within a few months of each other. Neil and Paul were great, Elton was going through the motions that night. As a whole, this was awesome. The best single show I've seen was Def Lepperd with Europe opening—Hysteria tour with a little "Final Countdown" from Europe.

First concert I saw was the cunning stunts load tour by Metallica. Great stage performance and being 15 at the time, I have to thank my dad for dropping my friend and me off at the show. Best show I have seen is either Tool (for the stage presence) or The Who when Entwistle was still alive at the New World Music Theater. Although they were older, they still brought the noise. Both of those will be rivaled by The Wall at Wrigley this summer.

I'm not sure anything will ever be as epic as Woodstock, however, the best concert I ever attended was Led Zeppelin at the Kinetic Playground in Chicago. They were just about to release their second album and the warm up band was the then unknown "Santana"!

Good call. I was at LZ's first show at the Kinetic, right after their first record came out. Jethro Tull opened, Zeppelin was second, Vanilla Fudge topped the bill (and deservedly so). Two sets apiece for $5. Those were the days, eh?

I've been to some pretty great concerts (Dave Matthews Band, Prince, George Michael, Mariah Carey, Black Crowes), but my favorite of all time was seeing my favorite band, the Smashing Pumpkins, at their second-to-last show at the United Center. My sister Tena and I had 7th row center seats, on the aisle, and I had a perfect view of Billy Corgan the whole time. It was beyond awesome! This was back when the band originally broke up. I also saw their final show at the Metro, but I wasn't as close to the stage as I was for the United Center show.

But there is something about seeing bands at the metro that just nice. Such a cozy venue.

Rick Springfield 1983 at the Rosemont Horizon! My mom and aunt took me, since I was only 8 years old. Proud to be a lifelong RS fan and still catch his shows when he rolls through town. :)

I can't remember the year, but it was Wham! Oh yeah! It was great. The last concert I went to was Mana, a Spanish rock group who've won a few Grammy awards. They put on a great show.

How about I just list the performers I've seen that have since passed away. Levon Helm, Richard Manual, Rick Danko, Freddy Mercury (Queen), Grant McLennan, Jerry Garcia, Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy) and Kirsty McColl. I hope I wasn't bad luck for those folks. First concert: Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne and the Eagles at the Capital Center in Landover, MD.

Hands down, it was the Billy Joel/Elton John Face to Face concert. I saw it twice, and I will be the first one in line if/when it comes back to Chicago!
