Lake Bluff District 65 Will Approve New Superintendent Tuesday Night
New hire will be present for Board's vote.
The Lake Bluff School District 65 Board of Education will approve the hiring of its new superintendent at Tuesday night's (Feb. 28) board meeting at Lake Bluff Village Hall.
The new superintendent will succeed John Asplund, who resigned in May to accept a similar position with Farmington Central District 265 in downstate Illinois. The Board hired Ben Martindale to serve as interim superintendent starting July 1.
The board's approval will close a six-month process dating back to Aug. 17 when search firm interviews were first conducted.
The new superintendent's three-year contract begins July 1 and pays $178,000 a year. The District will also pay for a term life insurance policy in the amount of $150,000; a $475 monthly vehicle allowance; the superintendent's contribution to the Illinois Teachers' Retirement System in an amount not to exceed 9.4 percent of salary; the superintendent's required contribution to the Teachers' Health Insurance Security in an amount not to exceed .88 percent of salary, and business expenses, according to the contract posted on the District 65 website.
Lake Forest School Districts 67 and 115 recently hired its new superintendent, Michael Simeck, who will replace Harry Griffith on July 1. Griffith is retiring.
