Lake Bluff Man Survives Colorado Shooting Spree
Steve Ostergaard describes the horror as one of the teens he was chaperoning was hit by a bullet.
A Lake Bluff man and Cary middle school special education teacher is one of the survivors of the Colorado movie theater shooting Thursday that left 12 people dead and dozens injured, according to a story on Pioneer Local.
Steve Ostergaard was chaperoning 11 students at a national stutterers conference in Colorado and took them to see “Dark Knight Rises” at Aurora’s Century Theater Thursday, the newspaper reported. One was hit by a bullet.
“He said, ‘Ow! It hit me. I’m bleeding,’” Ostergaard said in the Pioneer story. “At that point, I began to hear multiple gunshots.”
A Crystal Lake man has been reported missing in the incident.
