Lake Forest Doctor Served Community

Dr. Gerald Havey, dead at age 83.

 

 

Dr. Gerald T. Havey, who had a private practice in Lake Forest from 1959-84, passed away April 30 at age 83 at Westmoreland Nursing Center in Lake Forest.

Dr. Havey served on the staffs of Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan since 1985, Condell Medical Center in Libertyville since 2001 and St. Therese Medical Center in Waukegan from 1980 until it closed in 2005.

A pre-med graduate of Marquette University in 1948 and Marquette’s School of Medicine in 1952, Dr. Havey was intern from 1952-53 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee.

Dr. Haley served two years (1953-55) as a commissioned officer in the Medical Corp of the U. S. Army in Germany. He returned to the States for his residency in internal medicine at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. From 1958-59, he also completed his post graduate specialty in gastroenterology.

Overall, his medical practice spanned more than 50 years.

Dr. Haley is survived by his children: Thomas J., Terence P., Maureen E. (Ed McMillen), Michael (Jill) and Brian R. Havey, and also the grandfather of Lauren T. and Ellen T. Havey.

The funeral mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. May 17 at the Church of St. Mary in Lake Forest. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee.
