Lake Forest High School graduate Michael Schmitz, 24, died suddenly June 11 in Lake Forest.

Services were held June 15.

Schmitz was born April 18, 1988, in Highland Park, and grew up in Lake Bluff playing hockey and football. He also had a strong interest in building his own computers.

After high school, Schmitz earned an associates degree in nursing from the College of Lake County. He worked for Resurrection Health Care as a registered nurse for several years.

Schmitz is survived by his parents, Brian and Sally Schmitz of Vernon Hills; two brothers, Larry of Chicago and Troy of Vernon Hills; his grandmother, Frances McBride of New Jersey; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
