A Lake Forest Post Office employes carries mail from a postal truck that was heavily damaged after a rear-end collision Saturday evening at the intersection of Waukegan Road and Ash Lawn Drive in Lake Forest.

A Mundelein man has been charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and aggravated DUI following a rear-end collision with a Lake Forest postal truck Saturday at the intersection of Waukegan Road and Ash Lawn Drive in Lake Forest.

Miguel F. Hernandez, 32, 131 Shadydell Ave., was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, DUI and aggravated DUI for a blood alcohol concentration greater than .08.

The driver of the mail truck was turning left off Waukegan Road onto Ash Lawn Drive when he was rear-ended by Hernandez's Ford SUV.

The Lake Forest mail truck driver was not identified, but both the driver and Hernandez were transported to Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital.

I drove by this accident on Sat and I am praying that the Postal Carrier is okay because the accident looked even worse then the pictures show. if anyone knows the driver's status please update. I will keep praying for a speedy recovery.

We appreciate your prayers. It is a miracle he is alive, He has broken ribs, and a concussion. He went home from the hospital today.
