Lake Forest Police Round up Kid's Bikes for Inspection

The Lake Forest Police Department's Bike Rodeo teaches kids about bike safety.

Despite less than ideal weather, more than 100 kids showed up in downtown Lake Forest for free Bike Rodeo on May 14.

The rodeo included a series of stations, each dealing with an important aspect of safe bicycling. Kids had their bikes inspected and learned about skills that will increase their enjoyment of bicycling. Amy Barnard, a Lake Forest Hospital ER nurse, checked helmets and bikes.

For their participation, kids were rewarded raffle tickets for prizes such as a bike helmet, water bottle, tire pump, bike lock, horn, free ice cream from Sweet's, and remote control speedboat from The Toy Station.
