Lake Forest resident Edward McGowan, 79, died April 15 after a five-year battle with cancer.

His visitation will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday (April 19) at St. Patrick Church, 950 W. Everett Road, in Lake Forest. A mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the church, and interment at Ascension Cemetery in  Libertyville.

Husband of Joan nee Doubek for 53 years, McGowan was also a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and good friend.
