And why weren't the salaries and excessive teacher compensation pegged to performance standards when the community was held hostage by union demands? 13th in the Chicagoland area and highest paid in the state? District tax payers and students got screwed by union contract demands!

It is the administrators' salaries that should be reviewed. In my opinion both Dist 67 and 115 have been top heavy with too many administrators and they are overpaid. I am not sure this is a union issue but should be reviewed and corrected.

District 65 is also extremely top heavy on administrative costs. NOT the category you want to be #1. Fiscally irresponsible and embarrassing.

In all other fields, salary is commensurate with performance. Why should these teachers not be held to the same standards as others?

Agree with all of the above commenters. We have too many administrators and are paying them too, too much. I'd like them to explain why we aren't getting results commensurate with costs. We've been paying for their gravy train for far too long. I want explanations. This is completely unacceptable. In the private sector, these costs would have been cut long ago.

Some problems I see:
1. Not only do we pay administrators too much, the district also uses highly paid consultants on a permanent basis. In fact, one of those consultants was formerly on staff, retired, and now not only collects a pension, but is on a lucrative consulting contract with the district.
2. The administration rewards loyal APT members with permanent jobs. While they may not be high paying jobs, it begs the question, "Were they hired based on qualifications or loyalty and a willingness to fall into step with every admin decision vs. objectively question decisions.?"
3. If shared services is such a success and alleviates much of the double effort of work, why are we paying the administrators so much, when their work load has effectively been reduced?

I am glad to see that we are the highest paying district and rank at 13th in Chicagoland. This is again proof that the teachers union fed us lies in trying to extort ridiculous salaries. The School Board did a reasonable job in their negotiations with the teachers. Too bad that didn't carry over when they hired the new superintendent.

DPMI is the worst place to have your children educated. Send them to St. MAry! From the past admin to today the reluctant Admin its a real shame. For example: The music program is run by a young lady who selectively bullies students and is frankly in need of lithium. 3 years ago the young man working with her was confronted with a serious allegation of improper behavior. This never gets out. 39th tells me the grade system is flawed as it should be dead last.

This is great all to show to all those idiots who cried oh this is the best school in IL when the teachers went on strike we MUST pay them!!! Well guess what the boe should have given them NOTHING quite frankly with LFHS students mindset all most any teacher could do well at LFHS. You dont see fights or gangs at lfhs, you see kids willing and ready to learn. This just proves that the teachers are OVER PAID

So much for best teachers in the state. This sickens me that the teachers scammed the community like Obama scammed our nation.

Didn't LFHS used to rank 10th in the STATE? Is 13th in Chicago-land, really something to brag about?
