Letter to the Editor: Support Caucus Candidates

Lake Bluff Caucus member offers suggestions for District 115 and 65 school boards.

To the Families of District 115 and 65:

District 115 and 65 will benefit most when School Board Members demonstrate problem solving skills that incorporate effective communication, community team-building, and a long term vision and planning process which incorporates obtainable goals that exemplify thoughtful consideration with regard to how they affect the community as a whole.

My husband and I moved to this area 18 years ago for the educational opportunity, community spirit, and eclectic mix of residents. In 2008, my husband had been invited to interview with the Lake Bluff School Caucus for a D115 Board opening, but was not selected. He and I were both disappointed since he had been serving on the LFHS Buildings and Grounds Committee, and many had encouraged him to run. Having 4 children attend District 65 and 115 Schools, we had both actively served our community, schools, and church.

As an outcome, I attended LB Caucus meetings as a citizen/spectator to understand the Caucus proces. Now as an official Caucus Delegate and Area Leader, my job is to recruit qualified, unbiased community members from all areas to participate in the Caucus and/or to run for School Board positions; that is what we do as Caucus members. As an outcome of the interview process and review of current Board Members, I enthusiastically endorse the most qualified candidates to lead our schools forward:

ü  Todd Burgener for District 115

ü  Julie Gottshall for District 65

ü  Richard Hegg for District 65

ü  Christine Letchinger for District 65

ü  John Marozsan for District 65.

They hold a conviction that the highest level of achievement in public education is vital to our community; our students should be supported academically, socially, and emotionally by our educators and community members alike. They are committed to public involvement, are eager to demonstrate fiscal responsibility, and possess the ability to remain open-minded and responsive to the diverse needs and concerns of the entire tax district. They all have a strong record of accomplishment as longtime Lake Bluff residents. They are educators, parents, and grandparents with backgrounds in education, law, business and finance who are committed to keeping our community attractive to young families.

Let’s not forget what makes us unique; integrity will move us forward together.

Sincerely,

Robin Huszagh

Lake Bluff School Caucus Delegate and Area 6 Leader
