Market Square is the Place for Halloween Tricks & Treats; Symphony Benefits from Wine Tasting

"Haunted Square” at Lake Forest's Market Square

  • Where/When: Saturday, Oct. 29, 1 p.m., Lake Forest–Lake Bluff Chamber of Commerce, 695 N. Western Ave., Lake Forest.
  • Why Go?: In a repeat of the popular event in the Square last year, Saturday afternoon’s fun will include the sights, sounds and tastes of Halloween. Visitors can stop by the “haunted pumpkin patch” in the center of the Square where All Things Party will have festive seasonal displays, caricature artists, music and variety performers and treats.
  • Pricing: Free

 

Lake Bluff History Museum’s Cottontail Club Speakeasy & Casino

  • Where/When: Saturday, Oct. 29, 6:30 p.m., Lake Bluff History Museum, 127 E. Scranton Ave., Lake Bluff.
  • Why Go?: The Cottontail Club Speakeasy and Casino features casino games, drinks, light eats, music and, perhaps, a visit from Al Capone and his cohorts who, according to local lore, used the Lake Bluff beach near Crab Tree Farm to bring in shipments of booze transported on Lake Michigan.
  • Pricing: $35

 

Midwest Young Artists Fall Youth Music Concert at Northwestern

  • Where/When: Sunday, Oct. 30, 1:30 p.m., City of Lake Forest, 220 E. Deerpath, Lake Forest.
  • Why Go?: Enjoy an afternoon of live performances from groups such as: Cadet, Concertino, Philharmonia and Concert orchestras; Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra and the Voices Rising choral group.
  • Pricing: Free

 

Wine Tasting

  • Where/When: Sunday, Oct. 30, 5 p.m., The Grille On Laurel, 181 E. Laurel Ave., Lake Forest.
  • Why Go?: Buy your favorite wine by the case or bottle and the Lake Forest Symphony Guild receives a portion of the cost. Enjoy wine and hors d'oeuvres. Proceeds benefit the Lake Forest Symphony.
  • Pricing: $55

 

Trick or Treat at Downtown Lake Forest Stores

  • Where/When: Monday, Oct. 31, 2-5:30 p.m., Market Square on Western Avenue, Lake Forest.
  • Why Go?: Area youngsters and their parents are invited to trick-or-treat at Lake Forest stores around Market Square. This year costumed pets are invited to join in the fun – treats for four-legged friends will be available near Talbot’s on the south side of the Square.
  • Pricing: Free

 

Dracula!

  • Where/When: Saturday, Oct. 29, 7:30 p.m., Improv Playhouse, 735 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville,
  • Why Go?: The show features the 1938 Orson Welles Mercury Radio Theatre production of Bram Stoker's classic Dracula!
  • Pricing: Adults $15, seniors, students and military $10, take $2 off if in costume
