Most Popular New Year's Resolutions for 2013

We all know that people want to lose weight in 2013, but what are the other most popular resolutions?

Today marks the first day of 2013. And with that comes resolutions, or a clean slate, to start over and achieve something you didn't the previous year.

For many, losing weight is a top goal. In 2012, the FDA approved the first weight loss drug in more than a decade. Shortly after that, it approved another weight loss drug.

More so, there are stories that gym memberships boom this time of year. According to the Center for Disease and Control (CDC) website, 35.7 percent of adults - or one third of Americans - are obese. The CDC also cites that medical costs associated with obesity was around $147 billion in 2008.

So yes, we're sure that losing weight is a top New Year's goal. But what about the others?

Well, according to USA.gov, the "U.S. government's official web portal" for information, there are 13 popular New Year's resolutions this year.

In no particular order, they are:

While we think some of the above are cut from the same cloth (i.e. - "lose weight" and "get fit"), we think this pretty much sums up what the masses hope to achieve in 2013.

If you'd like, post a comment below and share what your New Year's resolution is this year.

Perhaps I am amiss, but isn't "HATER" such a 20th-century, new-fangled idea?

I think we, as a people, have become so thin-skinned and unable to learn from, to grow from, and to accept criticism that we have invented the "HATER"....

It surely doesn't help that the vapid, malodorous celebrities who our society so idolizes spend every waking moment blaming all of their ills on "haters," when perhaps they should spend an equal amount of time thanking the vapid, malodorous masses for making them rich and famous in the first place.

Heavens to Betsy, thank you! It seems that the three ghosts who visited me on Christmas Eve were successful in their attempts to turn me from a curmudgeonly windbag to an adorable and strapping buck.

Perhaps if I adopt some foppish and dandy haircut, take to wearing short-pants, and practice the vocal caterwaulings of the latest Vaudevillians of the day, I will soon have throngs of screaming young lasses to defend me from these "haters"....
