Obituary: Musician and Music Educator Stanley Ackerman
Funeral services for Lake Forest resident set Tuesday in Deerfield.
Stanley M. Ackerman, 78, of Lake Forest died Friday. He was 78.
He was a beloved music educator, conductor, violinist, viola player, chamber music coach and public school orchestra director for over 40 years.
He was the beloved husband for 53 years of Charlene (nee Berger) and the loving father of Bruce and Michael Ackerman and the late Shari Leah Ackerman as well as the proud grandfather of Annie Drew and Blake Ackerman.
He was also the caring father-in-law of Jennifer Goldmann, the dear brother-in-law of Rosalyn (Morton) Munk and the cherished uncle of Dr. Stephen (Barbara) Munk. Dito Sabaricos was his faithful and devoted caregiver. He had dear cousins and students around the world.
He admirably faced kidney dialysis treatments for the last 16 years of his life.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Congregation B’nai Jehoshua Beth Elohim, 1201 Lake Cook Road in Deerfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the BJBE Capitol Campaign Fund. Arrangements made by Chicago Jewish Funerals, Buffalo Grove Chapel (847-229-8822).

Condolences on the loss of such an extraordinary man. Sorry to have missed the memorial service, but he will always be remembered fondly for all the wonderful gifts of music and wisdom he shared with me so many years ago.
