Lake Forest High School Prom "Fire & Ice" will be held on May 12 at the Marriott Chicago Downtown. Students are required to take the coach bus to and from the prom. LFHS students began taking coach buses downtown in early 1980’s. Getting students on the buses has turned into an "event" in past years as the students pass through the front doors of LFHS onto a red carpet to find their seats on the buses. Nearly 800 students attend the prom and parents, community members, faculty and families all watch the prom promenade from bleachers set up on the front lawn. “Project Safe Prom,” introduced in 2002, focuses on raising funds to support the use of bus transportation to and from prom. Additionally, students from the junior class raise funds for this purpose.
