Local police departments provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt.
If only Sylvia Plath's landlord hadn't paid the repairman
A dispute between a Niles landlord and a repairman over payment for inspecting an oven led the repairmen to take the over door with him, according to police.
A two-and-one-half foot cement garden statue of St. Francis was stolen from the backyard of a Wilmette residence.
If they had waited 3 more minutes, it would've been free
A pizza delivery driver in Evanston was making a delivery and was robbed by two teens of $23 worth of pizza.
I suppose thieves need to accessorize, too
Several purses and belts were stolen from a Wilmette residence.
Several Boy Scout leaders got into an argument inside a Skokie restaurant. The argument escalated and the party was asked to leave the business. While outside, one leader slapped a cell phone out of the hands of another leader, police said.
A man in his 20s used an unknown tool to pry the front panel off a Wilmette gas pump and bypass the payment system. Police reported that the man had used a credit card to start the gas pump, charging only $2 worth of gasoline before breaking into to the system. The man then drove away.
That's what happens when you don't make a list
A 19-year-old from Morton Grove attempted to steal three small packages of luggage rubber bands from a Wilmette store, according to police. She had purchased a $300 piece of luggage, but was seen by a store loss prevention officer attempting to steal nearly $26 worth of luggage rubber bands.

Your commentary on crime is pretty tacky. My guess is that the victims wouldn't think your little jokes were all that funny. A crime is still a crime no matter how stupid.

Yes, the headline comments are silly and trivial and detract from the reporting.

Looks like someone stole your sense of humor. Better call the police! With all the murders, fatal DUI reports, and mob attacks In the news...these relatively "minor" crimes are borderline entertaining to read in comparison. Oven door taken? You don't read about that everyday! Yes, crime is crime...some crimes just aren't as serious or morbid as others.

Tacky? Tacky? You want tacky?????
The people who committed the crimes documented above are all tacky. Those were tacky acts performed by tacky people.
I am just curious. Is being the self appointed advocate for the victims an elected position, or are you appointed to that by some trustee who happened to be arrested for DUI? This is not allegedly because she admitted being drunk to the police.

Another examle of low level journalism. The renter is Sylvia Plath, the demented poetess? What an insult. The so-called by-line doesn't even make sense since the renter paid no one. These reporters should be removed from their duties and assigned elsewhere, like maybe Cairo.
