Every week day from now until the election, we'll be featuring a political poll on the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Patch. Today's is on the State's Attorney race. You can read more about the candidates here.
(Please note: this is in no means a scientific poll and does not indicate a win or loss for either side- it's strictly for entertainment.)

Chris Kennedy is clearly the best qualified candidate for State's Atty. He has the integrity and will to clean up this office and bring it into the 21st century.

Couldn't agree more Carol. A couple of my republican buddies have sent me emails endorsing Kennedy. He has something going for him if he has their votes.

After this debacle of a State's Attorney, it is clear only an outsider will clean up the mess. Nerheim and the current State's Attorney are in the mutual admiration club. So obviously Nerheim doesn't get it. Kennedy is the only choice in this race.

Chris is a good leader, a good attorney and a good person. What a difference for Lake County.

Chris has been so accessible, answering deep questions about services and reforms needed in the Lake County States Attorney's office with great specificity. He is a brilliant man with among the strongest ethics I have ever encountered, who will change and improve that office from day one.

I voted for Chris because I feel that he is driven by a genuine desire to improve the outcomes of the office - not to satisfy personal political ambitions. I think it speaks volumes that he has run on his ideas rather than running TV ads about the Olympics.

Mike Nerheim is far and away the BETTER candidate! This man has always been on the ball, at the forefront, fair, kind and smart. Add to the fact that his reputation is STELLAR as a family man, a community man, and a person we can trust.
He has nothing to do with the past problems in the State’s Attorney’s office! In fact, he has a detailed plan to address these problems. He has become an expert in DNA evidence, and will use this expertise to prevent future DNA problems. His work with gang prevention and sponsorship of teen-age court demonstrates his community commitment. Mike Nerheim is the clear choice, and by looking at all the signs in Lake County, his is Lake County's choice!

There were no DNA problems. Refusing to use the results, is a lack of integrity and leadership.

There is one clear choice. Mike Nerheim will run the office like he has run his campaign - frightingly efficient an extremely organized. So I tend to agree with the newspaper endorsement sweeps that he will restore honor to the office.

After an extensive vetting process, Mike Nerheim was endorsed by both the Chicago Tribune and the Daily Herald newspapers. One of the many reasons these respected editorial boards chose Mike over his opponent is because of his extensive criminal and prosecution experience. The State's Attorney's office needs an independent, experienced prosecutor who is willing to make changes in the office that we all know are necessary. Mike is neither a political insider, nor a state's attorney insider. He will be an independent voice in an office that should not be political. By example, Mike's campaign team is made up of his close knit family, and his campaign manager is a friend who is attorney in private practice - no politicians. For the past year, Mike has been running a positive campaign based on positives values, and making positive changes in the office. Mike will not be afraid to make difficult decisions because he is not beholden to any one person nor organization. Mike will be tough on crime, while also developing programs for the betterment of the community he serves.
Mike deserves your vote on Tuesday simply because he is the best qualified candidate who will be able to lead the Office back to a place of respect in the community it serves.

Experiences in life are what make you the person you are. He's all about integrity. Let's talk for a moment about Chris Kennedy's character and family. Chris has been an advocate for children with autism and other disabilities for many years. His middle child has severe disabilities and he's crossed the aisle time and time again in Springfield to help enact laws on behalf of the disabled. As we all know, illnesses and disabilities are non-partisan and Chris has many supporters everywhere in that community. His beloved cousin was brutalized and murdered 13 years ago. He was there to support the family, give guidance on the case, and emotionally hold everyone together. He knows what it's like from the victim's perspective. Chris is on the District 70 Libertyville School Board, he's been a baseball coach for his son, a precinct committeeman, he's a loving father and husband. Chris has also been a prosecutor in the State's Attorney's office, he's now in private practice and has tried many criminal cases. His experience is vast; he is a student of the law. The Republicans are saying that the Democrats have been in charge too long in Springfield; well, the Republicans have headed the Lake County State's Attorney's office for 32 years, far too long. The minute Chris walks in that door, he will be non-partisan, impartial, and fair in his decision-making. And, when we talk about endorsements by the media, we must always consider the source. Your best vote will be for Chris.

Agree Chris is the better candidate. Can we run such a poll on the west side of the county (Grayslake Patch)for a TRUE litmus of the race.
