Readers Want Family Restaurant in Lake Bluff

Latest Patch poll indicates a wish for the return to the type of eatery which once catered to diners at Waukegan Road and Highway 176.

A family restaurant where one once operated at the intersection of Waukegan Road and Highway 176 is the overwhelming choice to return by filling the vacant space at that location next to Panera Bread, according to a recent poll of Patch readers.

Of the 16 people who responded to the survey, 10 hoped to see a family restaurant in the space while four want gourmet offerings and two hope for a retail business.

Some people offered other ideas like an education center. That thought was offered by Martha Kouyoumdjian and seconded by Jane Fiore.

“This should be a center for tutoring,” writes Kouyoumdjian. “The employees (or tutors) would be the brilliant young college graduates who could use the supplemental income. This will not only increase employment in the area, but it will also help parents find the help their (elementary, middle school, high school, and college) students need, as well as quality mentors.”

Kouyoumdjian wants a Pita Inn if her education center does not get the nod and Fiore hopes for a Chipolte. Marco Sangria wants a wine bar. Another reader likes the idea of a gluten free eatery. Reginald Ash had an answer for that.

“I think you will be able to get gluten free pasta at the new Italian restaurant,” Ash writes. “They are opening March 1 in the old Noodle Bar in downtown Lake Bluff.”

I would love a Pret-a-Manger. Ate there in London and know they are popping up everywhere. Fast, healthy, and altruistic. Love, love it.

Though I'm sure it's good food, I don't go to a restaurant for 'altruism'. ;)

Give me good food and service, and I can manage the rest...

If the readers want a family restaurant, perhaps one of the readers should dig deep and open such a restaurant.
