State Rep. Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, has chosen to seek re-election to the Illinois General Assembly in 2012 rather than pursue the Democratic nomination for the redrawn 10^th Congressional District seat to oppose Rep. Robert Dold, R-Kenilworth.

Sente had been considering entering the growing March Democratic primary field against Deerfield management consultant Brad Schneider, Waukegan community organizer Ilya Sheyman and Wheeling attorney Robert McKenzie.

“While I am flattered that many constituents and friends asked me to consider running for Congress in the 10^th Congressional District, I believe there is too much unfinished business in the General Assembly,” Sente said in a news release Friday.

Though Dold’s Kenilworth home now lies in the reapportioned 9^th Congressional District represented by Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Evanston,, he has said he will run in the 10^thwhere approximately 70 percent of his current constituents live.

With all candidates required to file their quarterly financial reports with the Federal Election Commission, FEC, by midnight Friday, Dold told Patch on July 12 that he raised $541,330 for the quarter and has $751,881 cash on hand.

Schneider said on July 11 that he collected $321,085 for his campaign. According to his FEC report filed Friday, he also has $306,150 cash on hand. Sheyman announced July 1 that he took in nearly $110,000. His FEC report indicated a haul of $107,706 with $60,266 in the bank.

McKenzie has neither disclosed his totals nor filed his report.
