Spring Break Should Not Affect Early Voting

Lake Forest and Lake Bluff voters start march to the polls.

Early voting began for voters in Lake Forest, Lake Bluff and unincorporated Shields Township at 9 a.m. today and officials do not expect this week’s spring break to have an effect on turnout.

After an hour of voting, 18 people had already cast ballots in the City Council conference room of the Lake Forest City Hall where early voting will continue from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday through April 6.

“People who are off this week will vote next week,” polling place official Al Voladka of Lake Bluff said. “I don’t expect it (spring break) to make a difference. Everyone in Lake Forest, Lake Bluff and the unincorporated parts of the Township vote at City Hall.

Voters will be determining who will set on the school board for Lake Forest High School as well as the boards for elementary and middle schools in both Lake Forest and Lake Bluff. There are also contested races for all Shields Township offices, the Lake Bluff Village Board and the Lake Bluff Library Board.
