What Style Cupcakes Do You Want in Lake Forest?

Jolly Good Fellows Sweet Boutique will bring cupcakes, frozen yogurt and more to Market Square.

The latest addition to Market Square is already generating excitement from people who know owner Laura Fellows and brought a welcome from a Lake Forest’s ice cream and candy stores.

“Lake Forest is a great community to open a business,” writes Sweets. “With every vacancy that is filled, foot traffic will increase. Best of luck from all of us at SWEET'S.”

With a logo sporting a decorated cupcake, Patch wants to know flavors and styles the people of Lake Forest and Lake Bluff would like to eat. Take time to complete the poll at the bottom of the story and we will publish the results later this week.

It appears owner Laura Fellows is no stranger to some people in Lake Forest and they have tried her cup cakes. Pride Haggerty has already issued a verdict.

“Our family has personally tried your cupcakes and they are delicious,” writes Haggerty. “Peter said they were the best cupcakes he has ever had. Your store is going to be a great addition to Lake Forest.”

Another reader, Annie, seconds the motion. “Laura's cupcakes are creative and delicious, not to mention probably the best I have ever had,” she writes. “My son and daughter have made it a point to try them all—and not one has disappointed.”

Broadacre Management representative Deborah McDowell, speaking for the owner of Market Square, told Patch Jolly Good Fellows will be a family friendly operation. Based on some of the comments to the initial story, people who know Fellows agree.

“(The) Shop was designed with our children in mind,” Sarah writes. “They will be encouraged to hang there (and there) will be many reasons why they will want to.”

Another reader, Marco Sangria, gave a simple endorsement. “Uum, yum sounds great,” he wrote.

Carrot cake. If they are as good as "Baker Boys" in Highland Park, I'll never go back. Good luck Laura!

It did. 5 years ago in L.A and Phoenix. Jumping on this bandwagon now is a joke. What a waste of prime business space in LF!

@Blow Me Joe - I vote with my wallet. I'll take a coffee and croissant at Caputo's or Gerhardt's any day of the week over a bloated, overpriced Betty Crocker cupcake that was inspired by a reality TV show.

How about something healthy, organic ingredients, whole wheat, etc.

How about bringing REAL FOOD to our community? Lake Forest does not need another place where we can feed our families more processed sugar, white flour and colored food dyes. Our health starts with food and in a country where childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and tripled in adolescents in the past 30 years, Lake Forest is just part of the problem.
