And, while the format is increasingly electronic rather than paper, an emphasis on reading for fun and education is still a huge part of what Public Library's do. After all, even with all the advances in technology the ability to read and understand the written word is more essential today than ever. 

Most Public Library's offer so much more beyond a good read, and Lake Bluff Public Library is no exception. You probably know that we offer an excellent selection of DVD's and Audiobooks, but did you know that we have growing collections of Video Games and Blu-ray's as well? Ebooks and eAudiobooks are growing in popularity every month, and our subscription to MyMediaMall makes 15,000 of them available to Lake Bluff Library cardholders anywhere you can access the internet. Our other online databases include everything from Gale Virtual Reference's online database of reference books, Cypress Resume's online resume builder, to Freegal's FREE TO KEEP music downloads of popular and classic tunes.

The Lake Bluff Public Library also offers computers with Internet access and WiFi for anyone with a laptop or mobile device in this increasingly digital age. Our recently renovated facilities offer a pleasant place to relax or hold a meeting. We offer voter registration, free notary service, and the ability to get a copy of almost any book, DVD, or CD at another library in the State of Illinois within a week. Ultimately, though, the greatest thing we have to offer is our friendly and knowledgeable staff, who are always ready to go the extra mile in helping a patron. We are far from the largest library in the area, but we strive to be among the friendliest!
