  The Emotional Wellness Walk  "Enjoy the Journey" will be held May 21. In 2006, LFHS embarked on an Emotional Wellness Initiative with the goal of building a more unified and supportive school community. Students and teachers will take a break to enjoy some time together as well as give thanks to retiring faculty and graduating seniors. Students have chosen “Enjoy the Journey” as the theme for this year’s emotional wellness walk.   Online registration for Open Doors Career Exploration opens for students on March 20. This is done on a first come, first served basis. The seventh annual Open Doors Career Exploration Program will be held April 24-25. The purpose of this job shadowing program is to provide students with first-hand, on-the-job experience with professionals in the community and with local volunteer agencies during the two days when freshmen, sophomores and seniors have off from school while juniors will be taking the Prairie State Exams.   Lake Forest High School students and their dates are required to travel by bus to and from prom. Through the efforts of Project Safe Prom, LFHS is able to lease the 18-20 buses required to transport more than 800 Prom attendees at an estimated expense of $23,400. Each year, the Junior Class is responsible for raising the funds. To date, the Junior Class has raised $15,000. More help is needed to reach this year's goal.   Lake Forest High School's Prom has been rescheduled from its original date of May 19 to May 12. The change comes due to the announcement that both NATO and G-8 summits will be held in Chicago the weekend of May 19, and the resultant citywide security concerns.   Class of 2016 parents and students are invited to Curriculum Orientation Night from 6-9 p.m. Jan. 25 at Lake Forest High School, 1285 N. McKinley Road. LFHS counselors will provide an overview of the registration process, and will share a variety of course possibilities for a student's four-year plan; and in classroom format, faculty members will answer questions and present specific information about course offerings.
