The City of Lake Forest stated Monday morning that the landfill company it uses will be closed Monday due to the severe cold weather. Weather conditions will determine whether the landfill reopens Tuesday.

Due to the landfill closure, the refuse, recycling and yard waste collection for Monday will be postponed until at least Tuesday. An adjusted schedule will be determined after the city is notified if the landfill will reopen on Tuesday. The city's website will be updated with the revised schedule as soon as it is available.

from Jan. 5:

Monday's garbage pickup has been canceled in Lake Forest, and it's reportedly not due to the weather.

"The City was notified late this afternoon that the landfill company it uses is no longer accepting materials," according to a press release issued by the City of Lake Forest late Sunday afternoon.

There will be no pickup of garbage, recycling or Christmas trees on Monday, city officials said.

Lake Forest will post updates on this situation on its website, according to the press release.
