Lake Forest D 115 Makes News Again

More news from LFHS D 115 is not necessary flattering.

Recently the Chicago Tribune published some interesting
facts about the conditions surrounding Illinois Public Schools. Lake Forest
High School D 115 shows up in expected and unexpected ways. In terms of cost
per student, D 115 ranks second in cost per student at $22,003 per year and
first in administrative salaries at just north of $175K. In results from the
Prairie State Achievement Examination, which includes the ACT college entrance
exam, D 115 students achieved a grade 82.7% vs. Stephenson 86.1% , Hinsdale
87.3%, Deerfield 90.6% and the top, Northside College Prep HS at 99.5%.

Once again, we discover little correlation with cost and
outcomes. In other words, contrary to all liberal and elitists’ mantras,
throwing money at education will ultimately fix the deplorable state of most
public education is a false premise. It never has and never will, solve the
dilemma of poor performance of our public schools.

I also ponder, with D 115 teachers and their union’s
preoccupation of doing battle with the Board Of Education and the community
over their compensation and benefits and the prospects of a strike, did not
cause a distraction from their primary function, educate the students? These
test results cause one to wonder.
