Omni Youth Services’ REALITY THEATRE is an ensemble of teens who create original theatre to explore the issues that are important to young people today.  Representing high schools from throughout the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, REALITY members develop, write, rehearse and perform both humorous and dramatic material based on their own stories and concerns.  These original theatre pieces are performed at schools and other community venues throughout the school year. Led by award winning theatre educator Melissa Jacobs Estes and professional theatre director Melissa Albertario Peck, REALITY combines the power of creative drama with leadership skill building in a dynamic, process oriented experience for every young person who participates.

The REALITY Summer Workshop is a FUN and INTENSIVE week-long taste of REALITY Theatre.  Participants will practice theatre games and improvisation techniques to develop a performance ensemble, and they will use personal experiences to develop characters and devise scenes and monologues. In just one week, the young actors will help create an original group theatre piece that will be performed for their invited audience on June 26.

The REALITY Theatre Summer Intensive Workshop will allow high school students to meet new people, discover their creative talents, and enhance their acting skills.  Participants also will be invited to audition for REALITY Theatre’s 2014 – 15 acting troupe.

The deadline to register is Friday, June 13.  There are limited spaces available, so register now.   To reserve a spot in the REALITY Summer Intensive Workshop, please email or call REALITY Theatre Coordinator Janet Jesse at jjesse@omniyouth.org or 847-353-1706.
