Below is the full press release from the group:

Friends of Lake Bluff Parks (Friends) and the Lake Bluff Park District released a three-minute video that vividly depicts the story of the highly successful Northwestern Medicine Lake Bluff Criterium & Block Party held July 20th.  The video, produced, filmed and edited by Lake Bluff resident Mike Diedrich, currently can be viewed on the Friends website at www.friendsoflbparks.org .

Captured on the video is the excitement distilled from over eight hours of professional, amateur and children’s bike races through Lake Bluff’s central business district combined with   the Block Party on the Village Green. Fans had front-row views of the cycling action while enjoying live bands, food from local restaurants, and an auction of Adirondack chairs decorated by local artists.

“This video truly portrays the essence of this event as having something of interest for everyone in the family,” said Peter Arnstein, president of the Friends. “Mike [Diedrich] did a wonderful job of crafting a narrative featuring children of all ages heading by bicycles from porches, garages and driveways to watch the pros race and to participate in their own kids’ race.  He managed to tie in all the activity taking place on the Green while maintaining the visual flow of the work.”

“I had a ball making this video,” said Diedrich.  “A lot of patience was required to wait for the perfect sunrise from Sunrise Beach that I wanted for the opening credits.  I’m glad that worked out so well, and it fits with the Friends contributing proceeds from the Block Party toward improvements for the beach.”

The video will be used in marketing presentations to attract additional sponsors for the 2014 event.  Abbvie, Kinnucan, ULINE and Merrill Lynch Wealth Management were the lead sponsors for this year’s Block Party.
