Lake Bluff's Sunrise Beach Reopens To Swimmers Again

Lake County Health Department gives OK after Monday water test.

Lake Bluff's has been officially reopened to swimmers Tuesday morning (July 12) after Lake County Department of Health officials gave the OK following results of a test to measure the level of bacteria in the water on Monday, according to Dave Peterson, director of Facilities and Recreation Services for the .

that the bacteria count had reached 1203 by the Lake County Department of Health, which necessitated closing the beach to swimmers. The normal bacteria range is 235 or more, according to Peterson.

Peterson communicated by e-mail Tuesday that the count was 5, according to Lake County Department of Health.

Over the same weekend, the beach at Round Lake Park was also closed due to high ecoli levels in the water. No other North Shore beach closed.

Sunrise Beach closed once last year for the same reason, Peterson said.
