Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society Hosts Conversation With Local Legend

The Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society will be hosting their annual Local Legends event this Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Lake Forest High School Raymond Moore Auditorium. This year’s local legend is John H. Bryan, a retired CEO of Sara Lee Corp. and whose civic involvement ranges from helping to restore Crab Tree Farm in Lake Bluff to chairing the Millennium Park board in Chicago.

“The committee brainstorms on [Lake Forest-Lake Bluff residents] who have made a significant impact on a regional, national and/or international level that has any interesting story to tell,” Lisa M. Frey, Director of Development at the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society, said on how they select a local legend.

Saturday’s event will be a one-on-one conversation between the local celebrity and journalist Bill Kurtis,

“[Bryan’s] passion of preserving history and culture completely align with our mission and values,” Frey said. “Our mission, which is to inspire awareness of the community’s history and an appreciation of its relevance, is shown by Mr. Bryan again and again.”
