League of Women Voters Start Year With Lake Forest College Professor

is kicking off the start of a new year of activities with its Membership Soiree at 7 tonight (Sept. 7) at a Lake Forest home.

Professor Ghada Talhami will speak about "The Arab Spring Through the Eyes of Women". The event is open to League members and guests.

Talhami is emeritus professor in the department of politics at She has written extensively and lectured at numerous academic institutions in the U.S. and abroad. Dr. Talhami has been a frequent speaker at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, and a repeated guest on "Chicago Tonight", along with other radio and television programs. She has won many awards throughout her lifetime.
