Park Facilities Will Have MLK Day Activities

With school out Monday for Martin Luther King Day the place to be will be Lake Forest's Parks.

A variety of activities will be taking place at Lake Forest park facilities Monday with schools out and a number of people off for the Martin Luther King holiday.

The Dodge Ball Classic will be in full force at Deer Path Middle School between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. First through fourth graders will compete between 9 and 11 a.m. while the fifth and sixth graders will take over from between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Though there is no fee for this event, participants must register by Friday either online or at the Lake Forest Recreation Center, according to Superintendent of Special Facilities Jeffrey Wait.

All six through 12 year olds are invited to take part in a Hip Hop workshop from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the Recreation Center. The fee for this event is $30. There will also be open gym at the Recreation Center from noon to 3 p.m.

The Wildlife Discovery Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Facilities at West Park are scheduled to be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at this time, according to Wait.
