Re-Invent Gallery to Host Pet Adoption Event Saturday

Find your new furry family member at the Orphans of the Storm adoption event at Re-Invent in Lake Forest Saturday.

Lake Forest's Re-Invent Gallery at 202 Wisconsin Ave., will host an animal adoption event from 11 a.m.to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 for Orphans of the Storm, a shelter based in Riverwoods that is celebrating its 85th year.

Jackie Borchew, the shelter's director of community outreach and development, told Pioneer Press she used to hold adoption events at pet stores but owners were often too busy handling their own animals, so she branched out to places like art galleries and shopping malls.

“I like to go to places where people don’t expect to see the pets,” Borchew said. “And before you know it, they take out their phone, are taking pictures and texting their husband, wife or kids. Pretty soon the whole family shows up and it’s just meant to be.”
