Stroke Lecture at Gorton Community Center

The community is invited to attend a free health lecture on strokes at the Gorton Community Center Thursday.

The Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Chamber of Commerce and Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science will present the “Here’s to Your Health” Lecture Series at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Gorton Community Center in Lake Forest.

The first of these lectures, “Stroke: Can it happen to me and what can I do about it?” will be presented by Dr. K. Michael Welch, President and CEO, Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.

Dr. Welch is an accomplished researcher and neurologist whose career has focused on the study of brain function and structure in cerebrovascular disease, stroke and migraine. Recently, the New England Journal of Medicine conducted a survey to identify significant journal articles over the course of its 200-year history. The accomplishments of Dr. Welch and his colleagues who were part of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke Trial rt-PA Stroke Study Group were recognized as one of the nine most important articles in the history of NEJM.
