  • Where/When: 203 N. Genessee St., Waukegan; 8 p.m. Friday (March 4).
  • Why Go: Check out "American Idol" singer, songwriter, author and producer as he delivers familiar pop/rock “Tried and True” tour favorites.
  • Pricing: Starting at $58.  

 

First Fridays on Main Street

  • Where/When: Main Street in downtown Libertyville, 6-9 p.m. Friday,(March 4).
  • Why Go:  Have dinner on Main Street, and then check out jazz bands, balloon artists, art exhibits, guitarists and appetizers featured around the area.
  • Pricing: Art donation suggested.

 

Lake Forest Symphony Presents A Musical Tribute

  • Where/When: James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts, 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake; 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday (March 5-6). 
  • Why Go: Come celebrate for this tribute to the City of Lake Forest’s 150th anniversary. Program includes Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 performed by 13-year-old Steinway Concerto competition winner, as well as Schubert’s Symphony No. 9 in C. Pre-concert lecture by musicologist Jim Kendros prior to the concerts at 7 p.m. each night.
  • Pricing: $32-$54; students and seniors receive minimum prices.

 

Menopause the Musical at Genessee Theatre

  • Where/When: 203 N. Genessee St., Waukegan; 4 p.m. Saturday (March 5), 2 and 8 p.m. Sunday (March 6).
  • Why Go: Join in on the fun with comical musical parody pertaining to womanhood. Music spans 1960s to 1980s.
  • Pricing:  $40-$55.

 

Mother and Son Wild West Adventure

  • Where/When: Viking Park Dance Hall, 4374 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee; 6:30-8:30 p.m.  Friday (March 4).
  • Why Go: Children, ages 4-8, plus a female adult can come on down dressed in Western attire for a chicken dinner and lots of games and music.
  • Pricing: $11 for residents, $14 for non-residents.

 

Mike Young at Zanies Comedy Night Club

  • Where/When: 230 Hawthorn Village Commons, Vernon Hills; 8 and 10 p.m. Friday (March 4); 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday (March 5).
  • Why Go: Spend the evening among countless laughs with improviser turned comedian/writer, Mike Young. Young has worked with Chicago's Second City and Los Angeles' Groundlings, and has created content for film and television.
  • Pricing: Single tickets, $24.
