Auditions for Community Capers This Weekend!!

Auditions will be held this weekend at the Gorton Community Center in Lake Forest for Community Capers 2011, an original musical revue and light-hearted glimpse at life in Lake Forest & Lake Bluff offered up by CenterStage in Lake Forest and the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Chamber of Commerce. 

Auditions will take place on Saturday & Sunday the 27 & 28th from 1-4 pm with callbacks on Monday the 29th from 7-9 pm in the auditorium at Gorton Community Center, 400 E. Illinois in Lake Forest.  Open to those of high school age and older, those auditioning will be given a short monologue to read and are asked to prepare 16 bars of a song of their choice and bring along bring sheet music, unless they prefer to sing unaccompanied.  

This will be the fourth eagerly anticipated production of Community Capers which promises to be another hilarious “musical romp through Lake Forest, Lake Bluff and Knollwood”, an evening of humor, music and dance spotlighting friends and neighbors and offering an entertaining perspective on life in our community with skits and musical numbers dealing with topical subjects. 

The highly-successful show was produced in 2002 and again in 2007 and 2009.  Past co-sponsors included United Way in 2002 and the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Rotary Club in 2007 with proceeds benefiting the organizations and the causes they serve.  As in 2009, this year’s co-sponsors are CenterStage and the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Chamber.  Proceeds from the 2011 event will help support Lake Forest’s community theatre and Chamber programs that promote and support the local business community.

Performances of will be held on October 14-16 and Oct. 20-22 at Gorton – all shows begin at 8 pm with the exception of a 2 pm matinee on Sunday, October 16.
