City of Lake Forest 2012 Farmers Market

City of Lake Forest Farmers Market opens Saturday, June 23, 2012

Twenty-five vendors will be showcased at the City of Lake Forest Farmers Market this year, featuring locally produced vegetables from Illinois and Wisconsin, fresh Michigan fruit, local artisan foods, fresh-baked goods, appetizers, desserts, drinks and a local food co-op.

ü  Paul Friday Farms in Coloma, Michigan,

ü  Geneva Lakes Produce in Burlington, Wisconsin,

ü  Twin Gardens in Harvard, Illinois

ü  Freedom Organix, Illiniois and

ü  Door County Whitefish from Wisconsin.

 New vendors this year include:

ü  Paquesi’s on the Square, featuring plants, flowers and gifts.

ü  Freedom Organix, featuring organic meats and veggies.

ü  Lester’s Bison Farm in Salem, Wisconsin featuring bison meat, buffalo meat and other game.  

ü  Authentic Greek olive oil and feta cheese from a family farm in Greece  

ü  HighRise Baking Company from Chicago with handcrafted artisan breads & sweets fresh daily using old family recipes from Europe.   Hand-shape beautiful breads such as dinner rolls, batards, baguettes, boules, sandwich rolls & artisan loaves using an a array of bread dough’s such as pretzel, brioche, 9 grain, ciabatta,  french,  sourdough,  whole wheat,  rye,  pumpernickel and more! They also offer custom designed breads and sweets for customer’s specific needs.

ü  Maria O’Rourke, owner of the new Foodlove Culinary Co-op is linking her commercial kitchen to the Business & Technology Incubator and the City of Lake Forest Farmers Market.   Maria’s “Kitchen Incubator” features several local chefs launching new food, catering businesses or e-commerce businesses.  Some of the featured businesses will participate in the City of Lake Forest Farmers Market such as Foodlove, Peace of Mind. Mrs. Clarkes Toffee and Garden Gourmet.  

The market has something for everyone, including the family dog with treats from Maggies Munchies.  Also available is grape seed oil from Wildtree Herbs, fresh berry pies from Franks Karma Café, granola, toffee from Mrs. Clarke's English Toffee, fresh appetizers from All About Appetizers, fresh donuts and apple pies from Apple Holler Wisconsin, an assortment of cheese from The Cheese People, a variety of salsa from Slap Yo Mamma Salsa, baked items from The Last Cup Bakery, popcorn from Tattoo You, and cupcakes, desserts and breads from Swirlcup.
