The Center Stage of Lake Forest will perform Miracle on 34th Street, the Radio Show this season. In the performance six-year-old Susan has doubts about childhood's most enduring miracle - Santa Claus. Her mother told her the "secret" about Santa a long time ago, but after meeting a special department store Santa who's convinced he's the real thing, Susan is given the most precious gift of all - something to believe in. Done like an Old Time Radio Show with live sound effects and actors performing on microphone in front of a live audience. Scheduled dates are November 30, December 1-2 and 7-8. Ever wonder about those famous windows at Marshall Field's and Macy's? Who designed them and where do the ideas come from? Wonder no more. The Lake Bluff Library is hosting Amy Meadows, former director of Windows and Marketing Events for Marshall Field's and Macy's. Meadows will give a sneak peek into the design and execution of the famed animated windows, Main Aisle decor and the Great Tree. This slide presentation includes archival images, contemporary photos and memorabilia. The presentation is November 28 at 7 p.m. Registration is required.
The Lake Forest Library is hosting a Tree Trimming Party December 4 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Children will have the opportunity to make and decorate ornaments to help decorate the library's tree, or to take home.
The Lake Forest Dance Academy will hit the stage for their Holiday Extrava-Dance-A December 15. More than 80 dancers age eight to 18 will perform ballet, tap, jazz and hip-hop numbers. The show is part of the company's holiday tour which will also stop at Chicago's Navy Pier and at several nursing homes in the area. The recital is December 15 at 4 p.m. at the Lake Forest Recreation Center, 400 Hastings Way. Tickets are $5 and available at the door.
Get some shopping in at the Lake Forest Lake Bluff Artisan Guild's 2012 Winter Fair November 7 and 8 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the CROYA student union in the Lake Forest Recreation Center, 400 Hastings Road. More than thirty artisans will be selling their unique creations including woodwork, glass work, jewelery, organic soap, fiber art, photographers and more. New this year a 'Vintage Holiday' treasures table will be filled with seasonal items for sale. Live music and sweet treats will also be available.
