Lake Forest resident Steve Platcow will debut his award-winning documentary, "Not Yet Begun to Fight," at the Gene Siskel Film Center in Chicago Saturday, Feb. 9.
In an interview with the Lake Forester, Platcow said he made the film to help war veterans suffering from post traumatic stress disorder, which plagued his grandfather, who fought in WWI and who he had never met. The film also honors the memory of Platcow's mother, who died in 2007.
"Working with wounded warriors was a real opportunity for me to get to know my grandfather better and get to know my mother’s childhood," said Platcow, whose grandfather was severely injured in the war and died at age 48, reported the Lake Forester.
The story of the film centers around a retired Marine Colonel who reaches out to the next generation of traumatically wounded combat veterans, and brings them to the quiet trout streams of Montana, according to the film's Facebook page.
