Proposals Wanted for Ragdale Ring

Lake Forest's Ragdale is looking for submissions to be considered for its 2014 outdoor theater.

Artists, architects and designers have a chance to have their work publicly displayed in Lake Forest.

Ragdale, a Lake Forest-based nonprofit artist residency program, is looking for proposals for a full-scale outdoor theater.

Creators have until Feb. 21 to submit their proposals for the theater, which will house summer concerts and other events at 1260 N. Green Bay Road. The organization is looking for designs “that consider contemporary, fanciful and functional interpretations of the original Ragdale Ring, designed by architect Howard Van Doren Shaw in 1912 as an outdoor garden theatre,” it stated.

The winner will be chosen by a jury of architects, artists and arts administrators. That person will receive a $15,000 grant to fund construction of the structure, which will include a large studio, and room and board for eight individuals for up to six weeks. The project will be completed by June 1.
