  • Why Go?: To raise breast cancer awareness and provide donations for the Chicagoland Area Affilliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the Scouts' varsity girls' soccer team will play Lake Forest Academy. Tickets for sporting events, a sailboat cruise and player jerseys will be auctioned off.

  • Where/When: Thorndale Manor, Lake Forest; 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday (May 13, 14 and 15).
  • Why Go?: Visit Thorndale Manor and view the work of over 43 interior and landscape designers. The manor has 25 rooms, including six bedrooms and five and 1/2 bathrooms. All of the original architecture has been maintained. The boutique, garden shop and cafe will be open. Continuous shuttle bus service from Laurel and North Western Avenue in Lake Forest will be running all day. Proceeds benefit the Infant Welfare Society Clinic.
  • Pricing: $30 per person in advance; $35 per person at the event.

  • Where/When: ; 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday (May 13 and 14), 2 p.m. Sunday (May 15).
  • Why Go?:Experience the musical mystery that pokes fun at the mysteries of Agatha Christie.
  • Pricing: $35, $32 for students and seniors.

  • Where/When: ; 9 a.m. Saturday (May 14).
  • Why Go?: Help clean up the river at Skokie River Nature Preserve located at the west end of Laurel Avenue off of Green Bay Road. Work gloves will be provided.
  • Pricing: Free.

  • Where/When: Ryerson Woods Conservation Area, 21950 N. Riverwoods Road, Riverwoods; 5:30-10 p.m. Saturday (May 14).
  • Why Go?: The keynote speaker is Bill Browning, one of the foremost thinkers for sustainable designs in the green building and real estate industry. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Ryerson Woods and their education and preservation efforts.
  • Pricing: $125 per adult for entire event; $25 per person for dessert and keynote address only.

  • Where/When: Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital, 1475 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake; 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday (May 15).
  • Why Go: Spend the day outdoors at Lake County's favorite bike event. Pedal along any of the 4, 9, 12 and 27 mile routes through breathtaking open spaces. Raffles, music, massages, educational activities, lunch and Ben & Jerry's ice cream.
  • Pricing: $25 for adults; $15 for kids ages 6 - 17; free for children under 6.

  • Where/When: Waukegan High School, Orlin Trapp Auditorium, 2325 Brookside Ave., Waukegan; 3-5 p.m. Sunday (May 15).
  • Why Go?: Hear the Dallas Brass perform classical masterpieces, Dixieland, swing, Broadway, Hollywood and patriotic music for audiences of all ages.
  • Pricing: Free.
