Activator Cycles Sells All Types of Bikes

We opened Activator Cycles in July 2010. We started a bike shop because we had the passion of riding and racing bicycles years prior to the opening of the shop.

What is your business best known for?

We are a friendly, family orientated bike shop in downtown Lake Bluff. We have a Master Mechanic on staff and offer basic and advanced bicycle repair services. We can also build custom bikes and wheels. We sell many types of bicycles like cruisers, road, mountain, fat bikes, single speed and cyclocross bikes. We are authorized to sell Kona, Raleigh, and Salsa bikes and many other cycling specific product lines. We offer a full line of accessories and apparel. 

How did you choose the area you did for your business?

Being raised in Lake Bluff it just seemed like the right thing to do. Downtown Lake Bluff also needed a bike shop for the convenience. Families can ride over to the shop to fill up on free air or a get small repair or something as simple as a bell or helmet. Commuters, racers, or casual riders can also get everything they need locally - from products to complete professional services.

What is something most people don’t know about your business?

We offer a great bicycle consignment program whereby you can sell your old bike to get a new one or just take the cash. Folks can always find affordable used bikes for sale on our floor. We are avid riders and racers. We can build custom wheels and bikes. We can help anyone of any age to get started riding or racing. We also have a bicycle club for rides and events.

Does your business offer a special deals card or program?

We have lots of specials going on throughout the year. We also sell gift cards.
