Businesses Readers Are Raving About
Want to brag about the businesses you fell in love with in 2012? It's not too late to comment in the article below!
Readers showed their favorite businesses some love on Patch recently after we asked, Which New Business Did You Fall in Love with in 2012?
Taco Diablo in Evanston received three shout-outs. Patch user Kathleen Tribble-Strong commented that the Mexican restaurant was a pleasant surprise.
“I went there with one of my co-teachers and then took my grown kids there for lunch the next day,” Tribble-Strong wrote. Great food and really wonderful AND personable staff. Plan to go back with more friends and family.”

Patch user Harvey Newcomb and Mayre Press both say the restaurant is a great additions to Davis Street.
“Great food in cool surroundings. A hip addition to a struggling strip of downtown,” Newcome wrote.

Another Evanston business, See Jane Sparkle, also received some love.
“You should check it out if you haven’t already!!” Maggie Szejda Noonan wrote on Facebook.
Facebook user Ren Picco-Freeman added that “See Jane Sparkle is a wonderful jewelry boutique on Chicago Avenue.”
Other Evanston stores that readers said they fell in love with in 2012 included Team Martial Arts on Dempster Street, Cheesies on Davis Street and Curt's Cafe on Central Street.
“Great food, great coffee, great shabby chic atmosphere, great place to hang out with a friend. Hurry in and start to relax!” Patch user Sally Arden wrote about Curt’s Café.
Lake Forest
For good margaritas Patch user Carl Castrogiovanni recommends Mexican restaurant Authentico. Need a safe ride home after drinking, Castrogiovanni recommended Lake Forest Taxi.
If you need a good workout, Patch user R. Jenrow recommended The Dailey Method, a yoga and pilates studio. “Warm atmosphere and a great workout!” Jenrow wrote.
Joe Paulsen says he “loves having Beacon Sign Solutions right in our back yard. Located in Lake Bluff, these custom graphics and print professionals do a great job with your window, wall, floor and vehicle graphics.” Other Lake Forest- Lake Bluff businesses that readers recommended included Bloom & Focus/ Kerri Sherman Photography and Lulu’s Frozen Delights, which Patch user Sharon Faley says “I can't find any better words to describe their froyo, donuts, and coffee other than 5 stars.”
Highland Park
Have you tried popcorn in Highland Park? Patch user Michael Shalin writes, “Love the popcorn at "Highland Pop" in Highland Park!”
Three businesses from neighboring Highwood also got a nod from readers.
Patch user Les Axelrod says his wife have enjoyed Longitud315, which serves pan-American food. Another Patch user Lindy Fox agreed, adding that readers should check out Full Belly Craft Kitchen & Bakery and the Toadstool Pub in Highwood.
Winnetka/ Northbrook
“I lost a ton of weight effortlessly!” Patch user Barbara Hambleton wrote about Your Loss Your Gain in Winnetka.
Patch user Betsy Johnson says she fell in love with “The Dollar Store in Northbrook for gift bags and tissue.”
