Crowds Throng to Jolly Good Fellows

Lake Forest's newest business sells all the cupcakes it baked in first two days on Market Square.

With hardly a moment staff was not waiting on customers Friday and Saturday, Jolly Good Fellows Sweet Boutique opened on Market Square becoming Lake Forest’s newest business.

“It’s been nonstop since we opened,” owner Laura Fellows said. The business was so brisk the shop sold all the cupcakes it baked Friday and Saturday. “We sold 500 cupcakes (each day).”

In addition to cupcakes and other baked goods, Jolly Good Fellows offers 18 flavors of frozen yogurt with numerous toppings which an individual can add. “It’s wicked,” one customer said in delight after tasting the chocolate salted caramel turtle.

A wide range of gift merchandise is also available to customers from items suitable for children of all ages as well as a few gift ideas for Father’s Day. There is also a lot of candy which spark the memory of people of all ages.

Fellows, who lives in Lake Forest with her family, wants a place where the community could gather and children could feel safe, according to comments she made in an interview with Patch in March.

“We lost the toy store,” Fellows said in March. “We need a place for children to hang out and feel safe, a place for families to go on the weekends and be together.”

Around 8 p.m. Saturday, the shop was filled with families enjoying treats. An hour later, the crowd was just as large but there were more adults and less children.

“We are grateful for the community support,” Fellows said. “The kids have been wonderful. Everyone has been very supportive.

Jolly Good Fellows is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday. It is closed on Sunday.
