Grainger Workers to Lose Jobs

Lake Forest-based Grainger is cutting jobs from its electrical supply unit in Niles.

Up to 94 employees of Lake Forest-based hardware and power tools manufacturer W.W. Grainger are expected to be laid off from the company's electrical supply unit starting in September, reported the Chicago Tribune.

The workers are among about 400 in Illinois who received notice in July of pending layoffs. Other area companies expected to make cuts include Allstate in Northbrook and KubeTech Custom Molding in Buffalo Grove, according to the Tribune report.

In May, Grainger announced plans to add about 300 technology jobs in downtown Chicago and increase space at the Citigroup Center.
